THE IMPORTANCE OF EMPIRICAL RESEARCH AND DATA-DRIVEN APPROACH IN CORPUS-BASED TRANSLATION STUDIES (CTS)
Abstract
Empirical research is an important aspect of corpus-based translation studies (CTS), which is a subfield of translation studies that focuses on the use of language corpora to better understand the nature of translation and the processes involved in it. By analyzing authentic language data, CTS researchers are able to draw conclusions about translation that are grounded in empirical evidence rather than intuition or speculation.
Data-driven approach is a key feature of corpus-based translation studies (CTS), which is a subfield of translation studies that focuses on the use of language corpora to better understand the nature of translation and the processes involved in it. In this article, we will explore the importance of empirical research and data-driven approach in CTS and some of the methods that are commonly used.
