SPATIAL ANALYSIS OF LANDSCAPE TYPES OF THE MIRZACHUL NATURAL-GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRICT USING GIS AND REMOTE SENSING TECHNOLOGIES
Abstract
This article analyzes the spatial distribution of landscape types in the Mirzachul Natural-Geographical District using geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing approaches. The main objective of the study is to digitally map 20 independent landscape types identified within the study area, determine their areas in hectares and square kilometers, and assess their proportions within the total study area. Vectorization, attribute data integration, and spatial calculations were performed in the ArcGIS environment. The results showed that the total area of the study region is 984,772.61 ha, or 9,847.73 km². Landscape type 12 occupies the largest area, covering 240,708.52 ha (24.44%), while landscape type 8 has the smallest share, covering 8,669.48 ha (0.88%). The findings indicate the need for differentiated management of water, land, and reclamation resources according to landscape types in the Mirzachul region.
