ASSESSMENT OF THE NATURAL GEOGRAPHICAL CONDITIONS AND VEGETATION DYNAMICS OF TASHKENT REGION BASED ON NDVI INDICATORS

This article examines the natural and geographical conditions of Tashkent region and analyzes vegetation dynamics based on NDVI maps for 2015 and 2025. Landsat 8 satellite images processed in ArcGIS Map were used to identify spatial and temporal changes in vegetation cover. The results show that vegetation density has strengthened in foothill and river valley areas, while central plains have experienced an expansion of sparse pastures and a reduction in areas with high NDVI values. These processes are associated with climate change, improper use of water resources, and anthropogenic pressure. The study highlights the necessity of strengthening ecological monitoring, restoring degraded lands, and improving water management in Tashkent region. The findings provide an important scientific basis for enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring the sustainable ecological development of landscapes.

For the period 2010–2020, the sums of effective temperatures above 15.0°C during the vegetation period were calculated across the territory of Uzbekistan. For the analyzed 10-year period, the average values of air temperature were determined as follows: in the north (Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm region) – 1633°–1732°C, in the south (Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya) – 2040°–2298°C, in the central part (Bukhara, Navoi, Samarkand, Jizzakh, Syrdarya, Tashkent) – 1648°–1952°C, and in the Fergana Valley (Namangan, Andijan, Fergana) – 1676°–1790°C. A distribution map of effective temperature sums above 15.0°C for the territory of Uzbekistan was compiled.

This article analyzes the foundations of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) — such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and Google Earth Engine — and the natural and historical resources of the Syrdarya region. The beautiful nature of the Syrdarya river valley, fishing reserves, Mirzachul melons, and ancient monuments form an important part of the region's touristic potential. Using GIS methods, these objects are mapped and studied from a geoinformational perspective in terms of their spatial distribution, reserves, and development opportunities. The study draws on Syrdarya's statistical and tourism data, GIS technical documents, and scientific sources to develop recommendations for assessing the region’s tourism potential. The results highlight the region as a promising area for tourism development and propose infrastructure improvements and customer attraction strategies.

MAIN STAGES OF FORMATION AND TROPHIC STATUS OF THE AIDAR-ARNASAY LAKE SYSTEM

The article discusses the formation features of the Aydar-Arnasoy lake system, located in the middle part of the Sir Darya River basin. It is established that the system was formed in the 1960s–1970s as a result of the gradual accumulation of saline waters coming from the Mirzachul (Golodnaya Steppe) irrigated area in Uzbekistan. The first stage of the system's formation is associated with the creation of Lake Tuzkon. The second stage is linked to the breach of the Chardara Reservoir dam in 1969, which led to the flooding of vast lowland areas previously characterized by semi-desert landscapes and the merging of Lake Tuzkon with the newly formed water body. The lake system belongs to the category of anthropogenic water bodies, whose hydrological and ecological characteristics remain poorly studied. Based on the analysis of published works, field observations, and research, the current morphometric characteristics, features of changes in water pollution levels by individual components, as well as overall pollution indicators, which directly affect the formation and variability of ecological conditions in the lake system's water area, have been determined. These factors directly impact the formation and variability of ecological conditions, including the trophic status, within the lake system.
